Bird Atlas

The Bedfordshire Bird Club are currently carrying out a bird survey of the breeding birds of Bedfordshire and need help with recording breeding birds throughout the county. The result will be a new Bedfordshire Breeding Bird Atlas based upon tetrads (2x2km squares). It's all very useful and important information which adds greatly to our knowledge. There are only two more breeding seasons (2010 and 2011) to go to complete the project. If you are able to help with recording, and reporting, breeding species then please see the links below.

This Indian restaurant was formerly The Harrow.  They have a Banquet Night on a Monday which is £9.95 per person and includes any starter, main dish, side dish, rice or nan plus coffee. They offer  several vegetarian options + a few basic English dishes (including chicken or steak and chips) and serve alcohol at reasonable prices.  For those young lovers amongst us this is the Monday after Valentines Day (perhaps, if love is in the air, we can look for new beaus!).  Can those interested  ring Eila or email enquiries@dunstablebogtrotters.co.uk two weeks before so that she can confirm numbers.  Twelve places have been provisionally booked but it may be possible to add a few extra bodies without too much trouble. If anyone has a problem with transport contact Eila and she will try to organise lifts for them.

Why not come and enjoy an evening of fun and frolics at Aquasplash at Hemel Hempstead.  Not a lot of swimming involved.  There will be waterslides, flumes, rapids and lots more!  This will be a first for the group.  We will meet at Priory Middle School to sort out lifts to Hemel.  The session finishes at 9 pm so it would be good to get down there for 7 pm approx so we have lots of time to enjoy ourselves.

Meet time 6.15 pm Meet at Priory Middle School Cost: £4.20 or £3.70 concessions + 20p non-returnable locker fee.
Return between 10 & 11 pm, depending on drinking time.

Sunday 28th February 2010
Stockgrove for Breakfast
Early Morning Walk
Leader Wendy Hopkins 01582 602235
This morning’s circular route starts outside Stockgrove Country Park and uses some paths well known to us: the Cross Bucks Way and the Greensand Ridge Walk, taking us to the village of Soulbury.  An early morning walk in February?  Of course!  And why would you want to?  Because the log cabin at the end provides hot sausage sandwiches and steaming tea and so much more.  And you will be home in time for lunch, feeling very smug.  Bring a snack and a drink for the halfway point + a torch.

Meet time 6.30 am Meet at French’s Avenue (beyond the houses please)
Return lunch time Distance 9.5 miles
